RnDManagement.info provides information about the R&D Management journal and The R&D Management Conferences. It provides an opportunity to reflect on how the subject area is evolving and how knowledge and expertise can be applied.
R&D management is researched as a management science but is also a professional practice. The journal aims to advance the state of the art in the theory and practice of R&D management. Information about editorial policy, the submission process and subscriptions can be accessed at www.blackwellpublishing.co.uk.
Since 1970 when the journal was founded by Professor Alan Pearson it has been edited from Manchester Business School. The managing editor is Jeff Butler (RnDManagement@mbs.ac.uk) and the book review editor is Khaleel Malik (Khaleel.Malik@mbs.ac.uk) Both are based in the Manchester Institute of Innovation Reasearch within Manchester Business School.
The R&D Management Conference 2008 will be held in the new Desmerais Building at the Univesity of Ottawa . It will be hosted by the Telfer School of Management with National Research Council, Canada. The theme is 'Emerging methods in R&D management'. The programme will incorporate a strategic roadmapping workshop and various opportunities for industry involvement, especially about the commercialisation of new technologies. This event will be the 31st in the international series.
The conferences examine the contexts in which R&D activities are organised - enterprises, teams and individuals, international networks, collaborative projects, innovation situations, business strategy, management decision-making, risk and uncertainty, investment opportunity etc.
Future themes will acknowledge the nature and growth of R&D activity beyond the manufacturing paradigm, in the services and creative industries. Interactions between art and science are also of interest. Please contact Jeff Butler to discuss your interest in these emerging areas.
Since 1971 the conference series has been organised by Manchester Business School in collaboration with host organisations in a wide range of locations. Every two or three years the conference returns to its base in the Manchester region. The conferences are primarily academic research conferences which focus on a significant contemporary theme in R&D management. Workshops during the conferences address issues in R&D and innovation management which are relevant to managers in business, research, consultancy and government.
RADMA, a UK charity, is a sponsor of the conferences. It offers scholarships
to delegates from developing countries to present papers and it encourages
workshops and other activities with industrial relevance. See www.radma.org.
